1. St. Joseph and St. John hike
OUR MOST POPULAR TOURIST HIKE is HIKE 1 with Option 1
The hike starts from the Bathsheba Community Centre, from there we ascend to the top of Hackleton Cliff emerging near The Vault, we then follow the ridge to The Lookout (here we pause for a water break and you can take photos of the awesome view). We descend into the jungle below through the awesome Monkey-Jump crevice and head South East along barely discernable trails under the tree canopy, I show you some giant examples of the incredible Macaw Palm.
Option One (moderate).... We emerge from the jungle on a ridge overlooking Martins Bay and descend through a banana grove to the coastline, we follow a coastline trail back to the Bathsheba Community Centre. (6 miles)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Option Two (climbing endurance).... We emerge from the jungle in Congor Bay and ascend inland, the hike ends at the small village of Cliff Cottage (perched on a rocky ledge 650 feet above sea level) where you can rest and take photos. (6.2 miles)
Option Three (distance endurance).... We emerge from the jungle in Congor Bay and hike along the rugged coastline to Bath where you can see the largest waterfall on Barbados, we proceed to the small fishing community of Conset Bay and ascend through the surrounding hills of Windy Ridge, the hike ends at Codrington College (perched on a cliff 340 feet above sea level) where you can take photos of the magnificent architecture, the lily pond and sundial or the spectacular view. (8 miles)

Option 2 (extreme endurance).... We ascend to the top of Cherry Tree Hill from the bridge in Shorey Village by way of rugged terrain and bush trek (this is exhausting at the end of a long hike... but can be used by the Defense Force to train their recruits), from Cherry Tree Hill we cross through the gully to the back of the Wildlife Reserve and the hike ends at the Farley Hill National Park where you can celebrate your good health and level of fitness. (8.6 miles)
5. South Coast Hike (Christ Church and St. Philip)(scenic with rest stops)
This scenic hike starts from Seaview (site of the old Long Beach hotel) and proceeds along the coast through Paragon, where we stop to marvel at the enormous Space Gun used by Gerald Bull in the HARP project of the 1960's, continuing from there we explore the Bat Cave (which has a giant hole in the roof), we pass Salt Cave Point and continue to Foul Bay. (4.7 miles)
6. Mount Hillaby and the Scotland District (extreme endurance) (3.5 hours)
The Scotland District is a nature-lovers paradise and remains undeveloped because the uneven terrain has experienced landslides over the centuries that have taught Barbadians not to build there. The present government has declared the area is to be preserved for eco-tourism. It is the only part of the island where volcanic, oceanic and sedimentary limestone formations co-exist (a geologists delight). We will see sandstone, limestone and clay formations that have been shaped and worn by the wind and the sea over thousands of years… we will also see a wide variety of plant and (hopefully) animal life.
Our hike begins in the area know as Highclere (850 feet above sea level) and to the south of Mount Hillaby. We ascend Mount Hillaby, the highest point on the island (1,115 feet above sea level) using ancient footpaths hidden beneath the jungle canopy. We stop briefly at the peak so you can view the monument and take a few photos, then we descend on the north side into the parish of St. Andrew. Our hike continues along White Hill and Mount All as we hike along the ridge separating the valleys of Baxters and Turners Hall down to Haggatts.
We ascend through a little village at St. Simons and descend through Hoytes heading in the direction of Walkers and Belleplaine (at sea level). We head in the direction of Greenland and then make a left turn and ascend The Hill heading in the direction of Sedge Pond….. our hike finishes at the small village of Rock Hall, perched on a ledge 800 feet above sea level, where you can once again take photos of spectacular views to the North and East. (10 miles)
